Capitals Head Coach Jeff Pyle Begins Rebuild for 2026-2027

Feb 23, 2026

Atlanta’s new bench boss Jeff Pyle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Atlanta Capitals and the NA3HL.

Jeff Pyle stepped into his role as Head Coach with the Capitals this season after a late summer departure of the former staff of the team.  Pyle, a seasoned veteran professional player and longtime coach in Europe and the ECHL with forty plus years of professional experience behind the bench inherited what seemed to be a shell of a team in the early goings but with his hard work and determination was able to stabilize the franchise.

“Things were definitely a challenge from day one.  There wasn’t much to work with and I had to rely on several contacts from over the years and a ton of time on the phone to put things together.  It’s always tough with a rebuild but this was more than that.  This was a very late start rebuild for the staff and was a challenge daily.  I feel that we are now on tract for next season and am very confident that our program for 2026 – 2027 and beyond looks promising.” states Head Coach Jeff Pyle

Pyle went onto say, ” I Started my first year with the Capitals, this season in early August and on the first day of training camp we had a goalie, two defenseman and a forward. I adjusted my coaching plan to work individually with the group I had until we could slowly build the roster. We added players as we went to try and solidify the team.  We recruited local AA and high school players to fill our roster. This gave  local kids an opportunity to see how they measured up to the NA3HL players and showed them what they had to do to develop their game to prepare them for Junior hockey.  Now at the end of the season we have basically a full roster of guys for every game and at have been able to compete and give players the opportunity to develop and get more ice time then they have had in their careers. I’m proud of the guys for seeing it through and developing this year. I’m now beginning my recruiting plan to update our roster and bring a better product on the ice for the 2026-2027 season. I look forward to putting in a hard summer of recruiting! “

Pyle has already begun his recruiting for next season and has mapped out his events that he will attend in the upcoming months beginning with the NAHL Combine in St.  Louis during the NA3HL Fraser Cup.  “Jeff Pyle brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program and we feel that players that have the opportunity to play for him will thrive in development and appreciate what he brings to the junior hockey level of play.” States Capitals owner Don Stone.
