CAPS EARN STAR OF THE WEEK HONORS

Nov 25, 2014

Heading into the NA3HL Showcase, the Capitals are on a roll. After sweeping the St. Louis Junior Blues, two players made a huge impact and were singled out by the league and Easton: Star of the Week Alex Johanson and honorable mention Jacob Pelton.

From NA3HL.com – For the second week in a row, Topeka forward Alex Johanson, 18, is the South Division Star of the Week. The native of Skokie, Illinois had another big week as the Capitals swept the St. Louis Jr. Blues. On Saturday, Johanson (6'1/190) had a goal and was +2 in a 4-0 shutout win. On Sunday, Johanson scored four goals  in a 7-1 win. In nine games with the Capitals this season, Johanson has 14 points. "Alex had a great weekend. He's an extremely hard worker and competes hard shift in and shift out. We are happy with the direction of his game and he has a bright future ahead of him," said Topeka head coach Anthony Bohn.

Jacob Pelton was impressive over the weekend as well, standing on his head while taking the win in both games and collecting a shutout. On Saturday night, Pelton stopped all 30 shots on net and held on four penalty kills. Sunday saw much of the same. The lone blemish being a third period netter that Pelton allowed after the Caps were already comfortably ahead by five scores. In total, he went 55 for 56 and lowered his season goals-against-average to 1.60.

The Capitals move on to the NA3HL Showcase starting on December 7th at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, MN. They will take on Yellowstone on Sunday (10:45am), La Crosse on Monday (6:30pm), and Billings on Tuesday (12:45pm). The games will be streamed live on FastHockey.com.
