Caps Sweep The Stars

The rest of the division is a little harder to see in the rearview mirror after another sweep by the Capitals this weekend. Second-place Dallas scored four points to Topeka's nine, falling for the eighth and ninth time to the Caps this season.

Georgy Ostapchuk, Trenton Faber, and Austin Petrie had a goal and an assist each to lead the Caps on Saturday night. Tied at one after the first period, Petrie and Ostapchuk made it 3-1 heading into the third. Nolan Stanley, Jayden Munnelly, and Connor Nichols posted three more goals to seal the deal at 6-2 Caps.

Sunday afternoon, Joe Stoneburner put on a one man show by scoring both goals in the first period for a 2-0 lead. Lone Star rebounded in the second with goals from Blake McIntyre and Colin South, tying the game at two. In the final frame, Connor Nichols fired the game winner at 5:40 and the defense held the Junior Stars the rest of the way towards a 3-2 victory.
