CAPS TOP IMPERIALS IN A OFFENSIVE SHOOTOUT

Kyle Rimbach scored the go-ahead goal in the first period, and Atlanta held off the challenges of Sugar Land in a tough 7-5 win.

A goal 10:30 into the first period by Rimbach proved to be the game winner, and powered Atlanta to the victory. Jack Cleaver provided the assist.

Atlanta got the win behind a great game by Alex Johanson, who had one goal and two assists. Johanson scored 9:42 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Atlanta. Colin OConnor picked up the assist.

In a losing effort, Sugar Land was paced by Luca Valenza, who grabbed two goals. Valenza scored the first of his two goals at 9:12 into the second period to make the score 4-3 Atlanta. Zac McKenna assisted on the tally. Valenza's next tally made the score 5-4 Atlanta with 9:21 left in the second period. Sugar Land was on a disadvantage when RC Randall went off the ice for tripping.

Atlanta forced Sugar Land's netminders to work all game long, taking 31 shots and forcing 24 saves. Dan Mignault made 18 stops and John Capparelli made six. Atlanta's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Sugar Land power plays. Atlanta got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Atlanta additionally got points from Rimbach, who also registered one goal and one assist, Artus Laukaitis, who also finished with one goal and two assists, Frank Trazzera, who also had one goal and one assist, Ryan Dumond, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and OConnor, who also registered one goal and one assist. Atlanta also got a goal from Dylan Wattles as well. In addition, Atlanta received assists from Philip Pugliese, who had two and Aleksi Hoivala and Jacob Roers, who contributed one each.

Sugar Land also got points from Randall, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Matt Cozzan, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Alex Norwinski also scored for Sugar Land. More assists for Sugar Land came via Joseph BrochuKeegan ChesnickChris Conlin, and Jonathan Adnell, who each chipped in one.
