Caps vs Imps By The Numbers

Nov 12, 2014

The Capitals are back on the road this weekend in Texas looking to gain ground in the South Division against the Sugar Land Imperials. The three-game series begins Friday night (7pm) and concludes Sunday afternoon (1pm). Here is a look at the matchup by the numbers.

14

The Capitals have won 14 straight against the Imperials dating back to last December when they began their dominance with a 9-0 rout at Landon Arena. In their history, the Capitals are 14-1-1 against Sugar Land including an 8-6 victory this season at the South Division Showcase.

4

In each of the 16 games they’ve played head-to-head, the Caps have score no fewer than 4 goals against the Imperials. Topeka has racked up seven or more goals in 11 of those games for an average of 7.31 points-per-game against Sugar Land or 117 total goals.

13

In their last meeting, 13 players combined to push the Caps atop the Imps in an 8-6 win. Dylan Wattles led the way with two scores while Spencer Sabourin, Richard Yusa, Tre Opack, Tre Kautzman, Drew Kelly, and Kyle Rimbach each had a goal-a-piece.

32

That’s the disparity between these two original members of the South Division in goals allowed this season. The Capitals are third in division with 53 goals against while the Imperials are dead last with 85. Expect the puck to spend a lot of time in the net this weekend.

2.83

An interesting number shared by both Capitals goaltenders. Both Brett Malkmus and Bailey Aust have averaged only 2.83 goals against in their combined 13 starts this season. If the Caps maintain their scoring average of over seven goals, this should be a big series for Topeka.

The Capitals return to Landon Arena next weekend against the St. Louis Junior Blues. Tickets are only $5 and parking is free. For more information on upcoming games, call 785-286-PUCK or visit www.topekacapitals.com.
