Talon Medure led the way with a hat trick as the Atlanta Capitals crushed the College Station Spirit 9-0 in a home game at Spirit Ice Arena in Atlanta. Brody Nielsen, Dillon Steh and Keith Gustin also had big nights with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists), 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 6 points (1 goal, 5 assists) respectively. In addition, the Atlanta Capitals' offense had a big night, peppering College Station with 61 shots throughout the game, to go along with Hunter Adams' shutout. The Atlanta Capitals took the lead early in the first on a goal from Dillon Steh and never looked back.
Cole Thomas Johnson chipped in with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist) and Christopher Linde did his part, adding 2 assists.
During the first, Steh opened the scoring for Atlanta with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 3:12 with helpers from his teammates Gustin and Opie. Medure netted a goal at 13:06 with helpers from his linemates, Steh and Gustin. Medure deposited a goal at 17:29 with assists from his linemates, Steh and Gustin.
In the second, Johnson scored a goal at 2:26 with helpers from Nielsen and Linde. Medure quickly followed with a goal at 4:03 with assists from his linemates, Gustin and Steh. Lavergne netted a goal at 13:07 with helpers from Johnson and Cornic. Nielsen put in a goal at 18:03 with an assist from Adams.
In the third, Gustin deposited a goal at 17:09 with helpers from Nielsen and Linde. Nielsen quickly followed with a goal at 17:55 with assists from his linemates, Gustin and Medure.
The Capitals’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Adams’ shutout, as he stopped all 37 of the shots he faced. Adams’ counterpart, Pehrson, also had a big night, managing to stop 52 of 61, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Atlanta Capitals’ record to (14-5-1-1).
