In the second period, Opie netted what turned out to be the game winning goal at 5:48 with helpers from Sleeper and Rusakov. Rozema finally put Evansville on the board with a goal at 13:35 with an assist from his linemate Cody. Lester answered for Atlanta with a goal at 18:19 with assists from Ladzinski and Linde.
In the third, Steh deposited a goal at 5:42 with helpers from his linemates, Lajcaj and Medure. Lester netted a goal at 18:45 with assists from Rusakov and Sleeper. Medure quickly followed with a goal at 19:13 with helpers from teammates Lajcaj and Sleeper.
The Capitals’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Konin’s big night as he stopped 38 of the 39 shots he faced. Konin’s counterpart, Linenburg, also had a big night, managing to stop 48 of 54, but ultimately fell short.
