Elliott finally put the Spirit on the board with a goal at 15:11 with assists from his linemates, Jefferies and Borhot. Smith answered for the Capitals with a goal at 19:26.
In the third, Nielsen deposited a goal at 20:00 with helpers from his linemates, Smith and Ladzinski.
Atlanta’s victory was in no doubt helped out by Gibbons’ big night as he stopped 33 of the 34 shots he faced. Gibbons’ counterpart, O’toole, also had a big night, managing to stop 48 of 52, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Atlanta Capitals’ record to (15-5-1-1).
