In the third, Taylor opened the scoring for the Jr. Stars with a goal at 7:28 with a helper from Koehn. Nielsen finally put Atlanta on the board with a goal at 10:19 with assists from his teammates Opie and Carlo. Nielsen quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 12:04 with helpers from Johnson and Carlo.
The Capitals’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Konin’s big night as he stopped 25 of the 26 shots he faced. Konin’s counterpart, Vanwinkle, also had a big night, managing to stop 31 of 33, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Atlanta Capitals’ record to (24-8-1-1).
